Logset Australia

In 2014, Logset Öy brought its first logging machine to Australia, the 10F forwarder. Hugh test drove the machine for Logset, and was impressed with its build quality, capacity and economy, but wanted a little more performance than the machine offered. Taking that list of requirements onboard, the innovative engineering team at Logset set about developing a forwarder for the large wood market. Hugh travelled to Finland in 2016 to test drive the prototype 12F GT forwarder. After the field demonstration, LICO agreed to purchase the machine and have it shipped to Australia, simultaneously accepting Logset Öy’s offer to become their Australian distributor.

LICO put approximately 9,000 hours on the 12F before on-selling it to a customer who continues to run the machine in Tasmania to this day (July 2025)

In line with LICO’s desire to innovate and limit its carbon footprint, the company purchased the third 12H GTE Hybrid harvester to be produced and integrated it into its machine line-up. The 12H has proven itself to be an efficient, reliable, operator friendly and highly productive machine across all of LICO’s harvesting operations. Taking into account the 12H’s capacity, versatility, and economy, Hugh believes the 12H is a standout for rubber-tyre based harvesters. “Logset’s 12-series machines deliver”.

In June 2025, Logset launched a new series of harvester cranes that increases performance across the board. In addition, Logset have also released a new range of harvesting heads which include increased hydraulic performance and control, and the introduction of a topping saw. We here at LICO are very excited over these new products. We look forward to purchasing them once production begins in 2026 and testing them within our operations prior to releasing them into the Australian market. Watch this space.
